A catch-all email mailbox is one that captures all the messages sent to inactive addresses. For example, if your email address is info@domain.com, but somebody miswrites it and sends an email to inof@domain.com, it will still be received in the catch-all mailbox that you have created. Just one mailbox per domain name can have this feature enabled and in this way you will never miss emails because the other party has an obsolete address or has made a spelling mistake. The negative aspect of using a catch-all mailbox is that you may begin receiving a lot of spam messages, but this issue can be resolved using anti-spam protection software. It is also important to know that a mailbox with an enabled catch-all feature cannot forward inbound messages to a third-party mailbox.
Catch-all Emails in Web Hosting
If you have a Linux web hosting package with us and you wish to activate the catch-all feature for a specific e-mailbox that you have in your web hosting account, it’ll take literally only a mouse click in the Email Manager section of your Hepsia Control Panel to do this. A catch-all button is available on the right side of each email address that you have created under any domain name registered in your account. You can pick one single email address per domain by clicking the corresponding button. This will activate the feature momentarily, so all email messages sent to miswritten email addresses will be re-sent there. Clicking the button once more will disable the catch-all feature. If you have activated email forwarding, our system will exhibit a cautionary notification and you will not be able to enable the catch-all feature until you deactivate the forwarding or you can simply choose some other mailbox to be the catch-all one.
Catch-all Emails in Semi-dedicated Hosting
A catch-all address can be configured with several clicks of the mouse if you have a Linux semi-dedicated package with our company. The hosting account will be managed through our in-house developed Hepsia Control Panel and you’ll be able to create mailboxes with any domain name registered there. To activate the catch-all feature for a mailbox, you’ll have to click on the icon with the exact same name, which will be next to each email address. Disabling the feature can be done in the same way and will not require more than one click either. In case the catch-all functionality has already been enabled for a given domain name, you’ll receive a warning text message. The same goes if the mailbox that you want to be a catch-all one has email forwarding activated, as our system will never change or disable anything automatically.
